Hester Painting & Decorating Dedicates September
to the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk
SKOKIE, Ill. (August 12, 2009) – For the fourth consecutive year, Hester Painting & Decorating will support the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by donating a portion of all home painting, faux finishing and wall covering installation contracts during the month of September. Hester Painting & Decorating employees, the Hester family, Hester customers and others will also be participating in the annual Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk at 9 a.m. on the lakefront at Montrose Avenue (4400 north at Lake Shore Drive) in Chicago on Sunday, September 13.
A family owned and operated company, Hester Painting & Decorating will donate $200 to the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Illinois Chapter for every customer project that commences in September 2009 and has a minimum value of $2,000. Hester Painting & Decorating will triple employee contributions and match customer contributions, dollar for dollar up to $500 per contribution, to the Hester Memory Walk team. Last year the team raised a total of $23,248 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Memory Walk is the Alzheimer's Association's signature event for awareness and fundraising. “Each year the Alzheimer’s Association raises millions to provide programs and services to those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. The Memory Walk is a way for the Hester family to support such an important organization and effort,” explains Steve Hester, president of Hester Painting & Decorating, whose grandmother was diagnosed with the disease. “More than
5.3 million people in the United States are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Community
contributions at the Memory Walk help the Alzheimer’s Association continue to aid these people and speed efforts to find a cure.”
The Alzheimer’s Association, the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, is the first and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for Alzheimer’s. Since 1980, the donor-supported, non-profit Alzheimer’s Association has provided reliable information and care consultation; created supportive services for families; increased funding for dementia research; and influenced public policy changes.
