Hester Painting & Decorating Honored with Top Award of the Painting Industry
PDCA Distinguishes Firm for Expert Wallcovering Condo Project
SKOKIE, Ill. (Feb. 11, 2009)—Hester Painting & Decorating impressed The Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) yet again to receive its ninth Picture it Painted Professional (PIPP) Award. The Chicago-area, high-end painting, wallcovering installation and faux-finishing company was recognized for its work on a 5,000-square foot condominium in Chicago. The experienced five-man crew worked for four months to complete the 18-room project, installing wallcoverings on more than 80 percent of the home’s walls.
The PDCA’s PIPP Awards honor interior and exterior professional painting and decorating work in residential, commercial and industrial categories. Specialists judge projects on use of color, specialty painting techniques, unusual treatments, safety management, and overall creativity, skill and execution.
“The condominium homeowners were not fans of ordinary paint, so we worked with a wide variety of exotic wallcoverings,” said Jeff Hester, vice president of Hester Painting & Decorating. “Our painters spent countless hours ensuring that every tile of inlaid shell was flawlessly placed and that every detail of the hand-painted silk panels was seamlessly aligned.”
Among the complex materials used in the project was a new wallcovering from Maya Romanoff called Mother of Pearl Chevron. This product, made of actual tiles of inlaid shell, is rigid rather than flexible and requires meticulous installation.
In the condominium’s dining room and powder room, Hester hung hand-painted silk panels crafted by de Gournay of London. Hester installed the series of 18 individual panels to create one-of-a-kind oriental scenes.
