NORTH SHORE RESIDENTS MAKE A
DIFFERENCE ONE PAINT CAN AT A TIME
SKOKIE, Ill. (April 25, 2008) – On April 17, 18 and 19, Hester Painting & Decorating served as a drop-off point for North Shore residents to discard old household paint in honor of Earth Day. Residents from Chicago, Evanston, Highland Park, Hinsdale, Lake Forest, Northbrook, Skokie, Wilmette, and Winnetka delivered more than 250 gallons of paint.
“We were inspired to see so many residents make an effort to stop by and give us their paint instead of throwing it in their trash,” said Jeff Hester, vice president of Hester Painting & Decorating. “They were happy to get it off the shelves in their garage.”
After evaluating the paint collected through the Earth Day drive, Hester Painting & Decorating was able to donate 50 gallons of usable paint to the Joint Apprentice and Training Committee (JATC), a union apprentice training program. The remaining paint was properly disposed of at a hazardous recycling center.
Every year, Hester Painting & Decorating donates paint leftover from client projects to nonprofit organizations worldwide. So far in 2008, Hester Painting & Decorating has given to “Warm Blankets” Charity in Cambodia, World Vision Christian Charity in Chicago and JATC.
